Voter ID laws posed big hurdle for minority youth in 2012 elections, study confirms

At polling places across America in November, Latinos and African Americans under age 30 were disproportionately asked for identification, even in states that do not have voter ID laws, according to a post-election analysis by researchers at WUSTL and the University of Chicago.

Sherry installed as first Howard Nemerov Professor in the Humanities

Vincent Sherry, PhD, chair and professor of English in Arts & Sciences, was installed as the first Howard Nemerov Professor in the Humanities in Arts & Sciences during a Jan. 24 ceremony. Sherry delivered a talk in which he recognized the literary great for whom the professorship is named.

Diabetes drug safe for HIV patients, study finds

People with HIV have an elevated risk of heart attacks, diabetes and insulin problems, and there are not many drug options to prevent those problems due to concerns that they will weaken the immune system. But a new study by  School of Medicine researchers has shown that a diabetes drug appears to be safe in patients and does not dampen their immunity.

Saturday service project volunteers to receive ticket
for CGI U opening plenary

As part of the 2013 Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) meeting at WUSTL April 5-7, approximately 800 conference delegates will perform service projects at Gateway STEM High School. To prepare for this initiative, 175 WUSTL volunteers are needed from noon-5 p.m. Saturday, March 30, to prime and tape walls, organize supplies and complete other tasks. The first 175 volunteers will receive a ticket to the CGI U opening plenary session.
